We also utilize the process color printing method to print our bags. Please review our sample bags in PLASTIC BAGS
“4 color process printing” section.
Process color printing: The method of achieving color in printing is referred to as CMYK, four–
color process, 4/c process or even just process. To reproduce a color image, a file is separated into four
PLASTIC BAGS
different colors: Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black (K).
DESIGN CENTER
The “K” in CMYK stands for key since in four-color printing cyan, magenta, and yellow printing plates
are carefully keyed or aligned with the key of the black key plate. With CMYK printing, halftoning (also
called screening) allows for less than full saturation of the primary colors; tiny dots of each primary color
are printed in a pattern small enough that human beings perceive a solid color. Magenta printed with a
20% halftone, for example, produces a pink color, because the eye perceives the tiny magenta dots and
the white paper between the dots as lighter and less saturated than the color of pure magenta ink.

Artwork preparation for process color printing:
1. File format: Please provide high-resolution photographic images with 300 dpi or above. The
image format can be PSD, EPS or TIF in CMYK mode.
2. Color indications: Since this is process color, the standard color separations will be cyan,
magenta, yellow and black. Please provide color match proof (hard copy ) that can be used as color
guidelines during printing process. We are not responsible for adjusting colors in digital art files.
Please provide finalized press ready artwork.
3. Screens & half-tone image: The line screen setting will depend on the printing method. We
also utilize rotary gravure printing method on plastic bags. The quality is similar to paper printing.
The line screen can go up to 150 lpi. Basically process color printing can produce half-tone and
gradation images without limitations.
4. Font treatment, art size and positioning: They will be the same requirements as spot color
printing. Please review the spot color printing section.
5. Background: The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking colors on a lighter
background, usually white background. So white or light bag color is ideal for 4 color process
print. The half-tone prints may interfere by a dark bag color. If you desire a background behind the
image, the background can be made by printing with a flat process color.
